Willowbrook Golf Club is putting forth a major effort to combat golf's greatest problem-SLOW PLAY.
A program called Keep Pace was developed after playing similar concepts to those in various courses throughout Canada and
the United States.
For the program to succeed, each foursome must Keep Pace with the group ahead. With a
foursome teeing off every 7 1/2 minutes, groups would maintain the interval throughout the round and finish 7 1/2 minutes
apart at the 18th green. Some groups fall 10 or More minutes behind and with players entering the course at 7 1/2 minute
intervals, play backs up. When play is heavy, letting groups through adds to the problem of slow play. The only
group which is helped is the group you let through. The rest of the course is still held up and playing a slower round
of golf. If you play during peak times, you will be required to Keep Pace with the group ahead of you. Look
ahead, not behind!!
No round of golf should take more than 4 hours and 15 minutes to complete. If you
feel this pace is to fast, we recommend you golf at a time when play is not so heavy. If play is going to speed up,
some golfers will have to finish faster than they have in the past, but not at the expense of an enjoyable round of golf.
Slow play is not caused by long rough, tricky greens or a bad slice. These are the challenges that give golf it's
appeal. Rather, slow play is the result of bad habits that waste time and impose a slower round on everyone.
Golfers point out that speeding up play can be accomplished without hurting scores. Many bad habits can be corrected
by our "Time Saver Hints". Read them, think about them and you will see rushing your game is not the solution.

For Faster Play In Motorized Carts After teeing off, decide which player
should hit first and drive straight to the ball. While the first player prepares to hit, the other drives to his ball,
plays his shot, and proceeds to pick up his partner who is already walking to his next shot. If you cannot drive to
the ball take three clubs- the one you think it is plus one more and one less. Never walk back for a club. For
approach, sand and chip shots, take all clubs you will need to finish the hole, plus your putter. The first player on
the green or the player nearest the cup is responsible for parking the cart. Park the cart to the rear of the green
in the direct line with the next tee. The first person to putt out should proceed directly to the cart and mark the
scores. After hitting shots do not replace your clubs in your bag. Proceed to the next ball to be hit and replace
your clubs when you are selecting your next club or while your partner is hitting.
For All Golfers At busy times course marshals will be checking foursomes
as they play. Their instructions must be followed. Please aid us and fellow golfers by striving to complete your
round in 4 hours and 15 minutes. To maintain the beauty of our golf course, please rake traps, repair ball marks, replace
divots. Willowbrook Golf Course staff, and your fellow players thank you for your consideration in your efforts to keep
pace.
